Progressive Complexity

This is where an increase in complexity also leads to the emergence of new properties. It's not just about having more of something, or something really big, it's about the complexity leading to something new, something different something that results from the increased complexity. This is related to Gestalt Holism - the ideas that the whole is greater than the sum of it's individual parts. Progressive complexity can be seen as what happens to achieve the whole from its individual parts. There's a tipping point where the progressive complexity achieves a new 'whole' and novel qualities emerge.
